Course: FA-224 MUSIC APPRECIATION

About 20 minutes a day, three days weekly, for one quarter.

Combination of music, history and dramatic story-telling designed to introduce the child to the composer and his music.  Study/enjoy one composer—any one, but preferably DAD’S favorite—for one quarter this year.  We recommend you introduce the composer with this cassette, then borrow children’s books about him from the library, reading them casually over the quarter’s time.  Play a variety of the composer’s music casually on a daily basis (breakfast? bath-time? in the car?), letting the children become familiar with the composer and his works gently.  At the end of the quarter,  have them draw a picture of what their favorite piece by the composer makes them think of when listening to it.  Add the name of the selection and the composer’s name to the bottom of the picture for the student to trace over.  For quarterly reporting of “FA-224 Music Appreciation”, give the name of the tape/CD and the progress as “Start” to “Finish”; for a work sample, send a copy of the student’s picture and dictated remark(s).
